Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): The elderly people were shocked to witness the never seen before situation at the polling station, set up at Panzal area of Rafiabad as the massive rush of voters kept them stuck for hours in the line of electorates for the first time on Monday during the Lok Sabha polls for Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency. “Though this area has never boycotted the elections, the massive rush of voters that was witnessed today was never seen before.” Ghulam Muhammad, a voter at the polling station told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said. “We have voted in the past as well. It hardly took ours 15 to 20 minutes to enter into the polling booths, but for the first time, the people had to wait for hours together to reach the polling booth and cast their ballots,” he said, adding that the ground of the lawns of this government school Panzal was flooded with the people till the afternoon. “The people were seen heading towards the polling booths since morning and the line was too large, which indicated the enthusiasm and eagerness of voting amongst the electorates. The voters, especially the youngsters, first time voters, were quite excited about casting their ballots,” he said. Other voters, present in the lawns of the School where the polling booth was set up, echoed the similar views and stated that the people from the village have voted in this elections to ensure jobs for their educated but unemployed youth—(KNO)
